Hawaii is the most petroleum dependent state with close-to 77% of its population dependent on petroleum for electricity. In comparison, other states like Florida and New York are merely 16 to 18% petroleum dependent. Ted Peck, a program manager with the Strategic Industries Division of Hawaii, shared this fact during his presentation about the “Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative” at the 8th Annual Tech Enterprise 2009 in Honolulu (June 24-25).
