I study ways information is created and shared across today’s complex media landscape. My goal is to provide the tools and resources managers can use to reach their marketing and public relations goals.
- Are you engaged in two-way conversations with your constituencies?
- Does your organization listen to what the public is saying?
- Do you you know where your best referrals come from? Do you communicate with them regularly?
- Do you have a strategy for turning ‘strangers’ into friends, and friends into repeat customers and advocates?
- Do you know which of your daily activities are most effective and why?
- Would you like to get more out of your marketing and public relations campaigns?
“I’ve known Laura as a professional colleague over the past two years here in West Hawaii. She is an intelligent and enterprising writer and entrepreneur with a keen eye for detail. Laura is easy to work with and also comes prepared with her own ideas, which makes her a valuable partner in business. I also commend Laura for pioneering social media marketing awareness throughout West Hawaii. She is committed at the hyperlocal level to make ‘new marketing’ understandable and accessible. With this recommendation, I give my full professional endorsement of Laura Kinoshita.” — Charles Bohannan, Owner, Wordful, LLC
15 Years Professional Experience
My work has earned the Creativity in Public Relations Award for Best Product Launch (1998), the Edward L. Bernay’s award for Best Initial Public Offering (2000) and the Silver Telly Award for Best Educational Video for Academic Use (2006).
I graduated from the College of Communications at California State University, Fullerton, one of the largest and top-performing programs in the nation. My first job out of college was supporting the launch of Pentium-based notebook computers for Toshiba Computer Systems Division in Irvine, Calif.
In 1998, I was recruited to help grow the Los Angeles technology division for Fleishman-Hillard, a multinational public relations agency. As managing supervisor, I directed marketing campaigns across the United States and Europe, working with Excite, Yahoo!, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sabella Media, Seagate, Vicinity Corporation, Websense and others. My programs were designed to expand sales markets, obtain rounds of financing, help young and mid-sized companies reorganize following periods of rapid growth, compete in crowded markets and/or earn high valuations during initial public offerings.
In 2001, I left Fleishman-Hillard to expand media relations efforts at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. While there, I formalized the observatory’s public relations office and quadrupled the impact of its science programs.
I founded Kinoshita Communications in 2007 as a way to provide marketing and public relations services to organizations in need of strategic support. Since then, I have produced results for Bilinsky, Inc., Good Beginnings Alliance, Hafner Creative Communications, Hawaii Department of Education, Hawaii Island Ulumau Leadership Series, Kamehameha Schools, Kamuela Holistic Resort, Kupa`a Business Planners, Lava Rock Realty, University of Hawaii at Hilo and many others. I also like to stay involved with the physics, space and research communities by contributing to national science magazines and Web sites from time to time.
